Vanessa Niles, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., is a recognized expert in medical marijuana patient treatment, education, business and career consulting, and advocacy.

As the founder of Synergy Health, a California medical marijuana practice, and the founder of Leafy Green Agency, a cannabis education and consulting company, Dr. Niles delivers comprehensive cannabis solutions that meet the medical, entrepreneurial, and employment needs of diverse populations.

Dr. Niles Brings Her Deep Medical Experience to the Cannabis Industry

With more than 30 years of physician practice in the Obstetrics and Gynecology specialty, Dr. Niles is recognized as a leading authority on the delivery of quality medical care. She has a well-established and respected history of worldwide medical collaboration, research, philanthropy, and distinguished leadership.

Her notable work includes an appointment by former President George Bush as an International Medical Ambassador. In this prestigious, Dr. Niles traveled around the world as a delegate of People to People International (founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower) participating in medical research and innovative medical approaches through a bilateral exchange with medical professional counterparts in countries around the world.

Her work brought her to Italy, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Mexico, Ethiopia, Denmark, Egypt, France, and Haiti where she developed an expertise in a various aspects of medicine, pharmaceuticals, and advanced medical technology.

During her career, Dr. Niles launched and developed successful medical practices in South Carolina, Georgia, and California. She gained teaching experience as the Assistant Clinical Professor at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia and at Pikeville College of Medicine in Kentucky, and she has earned several notable awards for her contributions to medicine.

Shifting from Obstetrics and Gynecology to Medical Cannabis

After witnessing how cannabis changed her business partner’s life firsthand, Dr. Niles left the east coast for California in 2009 with a dream to open a practice where she could recommend and treat patients with medical marijuana.

Her partner and friend had been diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer and decided to stop radiation and chemotherapy after suffering from severe nausea and pain. Through her own research, Dr. Niles discovered the benefits of cannabis for cancer patients. Her friend tried cannabis and saw remarkable improvement. Her nausea, pain, and muscle spasms were so much better that she was able to die peacefully at home. The experience motivated Dr. Niles to change her life.

Dr. Niles moved to California where medical marijuana had been legal since 1996 hoping to enter a mature market where she could continue to learn from an established medical and patient community. She opened an OB/GYN practice and brought medical marijuana into her treatment plans.

Today, her practice, Synergy Health, focuses 100% on medical marijuana. She is also a Board Member of the Society of Cannabis Physicians and is involved in a research project related to anxiety and pain that is under review for approval by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Her previous research includes studying the role of cannabis in the treatment of opioid addiction, the use of cannabis for chronic pain management, the use of various forms of medical marijuana delivery to pediatric populations, and the use of cannabis to prevent and treat Alzheimer’s. In addition, she completed a nine-month holistic medicine study with Dr. Deepak Chopra and his associate, Dr. David Simon at the Chopra Center for Wellbeing.

As Dr. Niles’ reputation as a medical cannabis expert and advocate grew, so did her speaking schedule! She learned that a significant gap in knowledge about medical marijuana existed across the country among the medical and business communities. As more states approved medical marijuana and recreational marijuana, the need for quality education grew.

It was from this need that Dr. Niles decided to launch an educational company. Leafy Green Agency provides training in cities across the country to entrepreneurs and employees who want to own businesses or land jobs in the growing cannabis industry. In addition, Dr. Niles and her team of cannabis, legal, medical, marketing, sales, and operations experts offer business and career consulting services to help people navigate this complex and evolving industry.
