Cannabis in Wyoming

Adult-use cannabis is illegal in Wyoming. The state does allow high-CBD (more than 15% cannabidiol), low-THC (less than 0.3%) hemp extracts for qualifying medical patients, but there is no commercial program in place for residents to access those extracts.

Personal Laws

Cannabis has not been decriminalized in Wyoming. Simply being under the influence could be penalized as a misdemeanor with up to six months in jail and a maximum fine of $750. Possession of 3 oz. or less is a misdemeanor penalized with a maximum fine of $1,000 and up to 12 months in jail. Possession of more than 3 oz. of cannabis is a felony punishable with up to 5 years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000.

Personal Possession

Registered Medical Patient Possession: Patients with a Hemp Extract Registration Card issued by the Wyoming Department of Health may possess unspecified amounts of high-CBD, low-THC hemp extracts.

Personal Growing

Personal growing is not allowed in Wyoming.

Medical Cannabis Patient Qualification and Registry

Patients with intractable epilepsy that does not respond to other treatments and receive a medical authorization from a neurologist in the state may possess high-CBD, low-THC hemp extracts.
